Generous retirement and health benefits. Employment security. Ability to work anywhere in the United States or abroad. Get out of the woods A common mistake many government employees make is applying for entry-level jobs just to get started. This decision becomes problematic when an employee's imaginary foot gets caught in an imaginary door. As a manager I have witnessed many times where my employees became complacent in their entry-level jobs. Many people don't look happy but the job has become a routine or just part of their daily lives. When I started working at the Department of Veterans Affairs I accepted the position.
I used my experience as a hearing conservationist in the military to work as a technician in the Hearing and Speech Department at Hines VA Hospital. I became a valued member of the department and Bulgaria Email List treated colleagues and patients like family but I became too comfortable in entry-level work. I made up excuses to avoid going back into the job market. I knew. I kept asking my supervisor for a promotion because I didn't understand how the system worked. My manager couldn't get me a higher score which made me feel unappreciated but that was not the case.
I learned how all it took to be successful was to take the opportunity to use my military leadership experience to apply for supervisory positions. Learn to grow. Here are some signs that it might be time to broaden your career horizons. Your current job isn't bringing you any joy. It makes you feel redundant or unimportant. You feel like it's causing your health to slowly deteriorate. This job will not challenge you. You're afraid to go to work. All leave options have been exhausted and you still need to take time off. Ultimately staying in a job that doesn't bring you happiness or fulfillment is a choice. No obstacle is too great when the rewards are worth the sacrifices made to achieve your goals.
